Banish that Bad Backgammon Attitude

Want to be seen as a gambling player with a bad attitude in the backgammon scene? Surely you would not want that. Other than you will have a bad reputation, other gambling players will not take it easy on you and winning will be a lot harder for you that way. If you do not want to end up as the least liked gambling player, then avoid doing these things while playing backgammon:

- Each time the other gambling player casts a poor roll, appearing to be very excited and glad. Your opponent already knows that you were glad he was unlucky with the roll, there is no need to make it any more obvious. So, be a little more considerate and keep your celebration to yourself. Everybody loves the modest gambling player.

- Eating food in an untidy way, maybe eating something with sauce or gravy at the backgammon game. The sauce may drip on the game pieces and the game board itself, which is a major turn-off for any decent gambling player. Try not to eat while playing. But if you really need to grab a bite, go for something that will not mess up the game, literally.

- Making the move for your opponent. It is a mark of every gambling player to make his opponent move in a way that would benefit him, not the opponent. If in any point you succeed in doing this, for example, you gave no other option for your opponent, then you are a good gambling player. But, it will be all put in to waste if you make such a big deal out of it, by emphasizing what you have done. Even if it is the only move he can make, do not move his markers. He has his own hands. Leave him an ounce of dignity.

- Yelling at the top of your lungs that you have won the game. We know that you are happy you won, but you should be sensitive about the other gambling player's pride. After all, if you think you are really good, you do not need to shout it out to the whole world. Just win more games and people will notice you. It is always better to be discovered to be good at something instead of proclaiming that you are and in the end be proven that you really are not good. Backgammon is not a popularity contest. It's a game of skills.
